Problem Space

The challenge with this website extended beyond aesthetics — it required an in-depth understanding of the firm's modern concept of architecture and design. Collaborating with another UX designer, we delved into crafting an interface that seamlessly displayed their videos, incorporated a distinctive home-page animation, and elegantly showcased their projects, news, and about section. Also, the overall look and feel had to resemble the experience of stepping into their office in Padova (Italy) to create a seamless experience for their clients.

Development

Our UX-focused approach involved user research to understand the firm's target audience and their interaction preferences. We navigated through information architecture to ensure intuitive access to projects, news, and team details. Implementing user personas, wireframes, and prototypes, we designed the user journey, prioritising a user-centric experience.

The successful integration of a custom home-page animation was one of our biggest achievements, which also enhanced user engagement. Our commitment to a custom animation faced initial skepticism from other freelancers who declined to work on it and on the website in general without relying on a CMS. However, our determination prevailed, proving that a custom-built animation, tailored to the firm's unique vision, could be seamlessly integrated into the website, contributing to its distinctiveness.

Key takeaways

Key takeaways

Working with architects is always a cool experience as creativity knows no bounds. A highlight was visiting their Padova office, contemplating how to translate the experience of entering their physical space into a digital realm—an aspect often overlooked but undeniably significant, and something I am eager to explore further. It is so important to always create a seamless experience for users.

It was also very rewarding to be able to code and build a website that other freelancer refused to make. Breaking away from the reliance on pre-made themes added a refreshing touch to the process, emphasising how it is important for be to build custom websites.
